Over the past few days, we’ve been putting our research out into the world, sharing our work openly. The response has been deeply encouraging. We’re grateful for the trust and belief you’ve placed in what we’re building.
Today, we’re opening up Indus, an interface to experience our models in limited beta. Indus is powered by our 105B sovereign model. It is significantly smaller than the frontier models powering global consumer chat applications today. At this stage, we are intentionally focused on accuracy, usefulness, efficiency, and alignment for the Indian context before training bigger foundational models. True AI sovereignty means building the full stack of technology from the ground up. The first step was to build foundational models from scratch in India. Indus is the next step to demonstrate that India can also own the data and interface layers.
This is an early release. Indus is evolving, and we’re improving it every day. Your feedback will directly shape what it becomes. We’re gradually rolling out on a limited compute capacity, so you may hit a waitlist at first, we will expand access as soon as possible.
We believe sovereign AI is a nationwide, collective effort. If it is to mean anything, it must be built with the country, not just for it. That means learning from the people who understand India best, its developers, researchers, local experts, creators, builders, artists and everyday users.
Try Indus.
