About the Role
We're looking for an HR Business Partner & Operations to be a strategic and hands-on partner to our business leaders. You'll sit at the intersection of people strategy and execution : shaping how teams are structured, how performance and culture are managed, and making sure the operational backbone of HR (systems, policies, processes, compliance, data) runs without friction. This is a high-ownership role suited to someone who can move fluidly between advising leadership on organizational decisions and getting into the details of HR operations and systems to make those decisions real.
Key Responsibilities
Business Partnering
-
Partner closely with business and function leaders to understand their goals and translate them into HR strategies and structures that support scale.
-
Advise on organizational design, performance management, and career development as teams grow.
-
Act as a trusted advisor and change agent through periods of organizational transformation and rapid growth.
-
Address employee relations matters, lead investigations where needed, and resolve conflicts fairly and swiftly.
People Operations & HR Systems
-
Own and continuously improve core HR processes across the employee lifecycle — onboarding, performance cycles, transfers, and exits.
-
Identify, evaluate, and implement HRMS tools for employee data, compensation, and performance management, ensuring the stack scales cleanly with headcount growth.
-
Ensure HR policies, labor law compliance, and documentation are current, consistent, and audit-ready.
-
Support compensation and benefits administration, including data accuracy, benchmarking inputs, and cycle execution.
-
Maintain and improve HR systems, dashboards, and reporting to give leadership clean, timely people data.
-
Support talent acquisition through workforce planning inputs and candidate evaluation where needed.
Culture & Engagement
-
Drive employee engagement, retention, and development initiatives that fit a fast paced, high-growth, tech-first environment.
-
Champion a high performance, high trust culture aligned with Sarvam's mission and pace.
Requirements
-
Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
-
5–8 years of HR experience, with at least 4 years in an HRBP, People Operations, or similar generalist role.
-
Hands-on experience in implementing HRMS/HRIS platforms (e.g., Darwinbox, Keka, Rippling, Lattice or similar) is strongly preferred.
-
Strong grounding in HR compliance, and process design.
-
Comfortable owning both strategic conversations with leaders and the operational details that make HR systems and processes work reliably.
-
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
-
Thrives in a fast paced, high growth, ambiguity tolerant environment: startup or scale-up experience is a plus.
Why Sarvam?
-
Sarvam is a fast moving, high talent density team building full-stack AI for India, working on problems that push the frontiers of AI with real population scale impact.
-
Work alongside researchers, engineers, builders, and business leaders who move fast and hold each other to a very high bar.
-
High impact, high agency role shaping HR strategy and systems from the ground up at a fast scaling AI company.
-
Be part of a mission driven team building India's sovereign AI stack, with exposure to a wide range of HR challenges, from strategy to systems.
If you’re passionate about shaping the people agenda in a mission first, cutting edge AI company, we’d love to hear from you!
