What you can dub

AI dubbing for films translates a film's dialogue into Indian languages and re-voices each actor in their own cloned voice, with every line open to review before export.

  • Feature films

Full-length dialogue with multiple characters in each scene. Each actor keeps their own voice across every language edition, and any line can be reviewed before you export.

  • Short films

Festival and online shorts that need a regional release.

  • Trailers and promos

Cut-downs that go out in several languages at once.

  • Behind-the-scenes and interviews

Cast and crew conversations for release campaigns.

What matters when
dubbing films

A film dub is judged in its first scene. If the characters blur together or the performance goes flat, the audience stops following the story and starts noticing the dub.

Keep characters distinct

Tell Sarvam how many people speak when you set up the dub. Each voice is separated and cloned on its own, so Meera and Arjun still sound like two people in Hindi. If you are unsure of the count, round up. An empty speaker slot does no harm, but two actors merged into one voice are hard to separate afterwards.

Retain emotional delivery

Voice cloning carries each actor's vocal traits into the new language, so the dubbed line is still spoken in their voice. A translated line often runs longer than the original, so Sarvam fits it to the time the actor takes to say it.

Review dialogue line by line

Each line of dialogue has its own timestamped block, next to the original. Change a word, regenerate that one block and play it back. Nothing else in the scene is touched.

Review every line before export

Set up speakers, correct dialogue and balance the mix before a scene leaves the dubbing workspace.

Original speaker voice

Clone each actor's voice into the target language. Where the original can't be used, cast one of Sarvam's native voice personas.

Multi-speaker separation

Speakers are separated before translation, so each character is dubbed in their own cloned voice.

Line-level editing

Rewrite any translated line in its timestamped block. Fix a literal phrase, a name or a line that runs long.

Regenerate individual blocks

Re-voice one block after an edit and play it against the original.

Lip sync

Dubbed dialogue is aligned with the speaker's on-screen movements.

Translation register

Choose Auto, Formal or Urban colloquial so the dialogue matches how the characters talk.

Audio mix

Balance dubbed dialogue, original audio and the background track before export.

Subtitles

Request an SRT file for each language alongside the dubbed video.

Frequently asked questions

Can Sarvam handle scenes with multiple speakers?

Yes. Set the number of speakers when you create the dub, and Sarvam separates each voice before translating. Round up if you are unsure, because two speakers merged into one slot blend together in the output. Setup fields lock once the dub is created, so check the count first.

Can the original speakers' voices be retained?

Yes. Clone speaker voice is the default setting. It tracks each original speaker's vocal traits and carries them into every target language. You can choose a Sarvam voice instead when a cloned voice isn't appropriate.

Can individual dialogue lines be edited?

Yes. Each translated line sits in a timestamped block. Edit the text, regenerate that block's audio and compare it with the original before you export.

Does Sarvam support lip-sync for dubbed video?

Yes. Sarvam aligns translated dialogue with the speaker's on-screen movements. Translations are also fitted to the original timing, so a longer Hindi or Tamil line stays within the actor's delivery.

Can I export audio and subtitles for post-production?

The workspace exports the reviewed dubbed video. Through the dubbing API, one job can return the dubbed video, an isolated audio track in WAV and an SRT subtitle file for each target language. List the formats you need in export_options.
